Travel Tips: How to Find the Cheapest Flights

TRAVEL TIP: How to Find the CHEAPEST FLIGHTS! by @thisgirlgiggles

Planning your next vacation?

See how you can stay on budget.

How do I stay on budget? I have to be flexible. I choose my destinations depending on the cost of the flights. Also, I travel on a shoulder season to keep other costs down. For flights, I use Skyscanner to see which months and destinations are the cheapest that are departing from my airport.

Another crucial tip: Buy a cheap 1-way ticket to Paris (for an example) then find another cheap 1-way ticket way home from another city with a high-traffic airport, such as London or Milan; as most budget flights are under $20 USD within European countries.

 Follow these steps:

#1. Go to Skyscanner or download Skyscanner App on your iPhone or Android

Skyscanner iOS App Download      Skyscanner Android App Download

#2. Enter your airport and choose ‘FLEXIBLE’ on destinations:

#4. Now, it will show you which countries are the cheapest.

Click on the arrow to view the cities:

#5. Let’s say you want to go to the US Virgin Islands because it starts from only $260 RT:

#6. See which dates to depart and arrive are the cheapest:

In this case, it’s August 16th – 22nd for only $259!

There you go! It’s time to pack your bags.

Just go.

Have you used SkyScanner before?

I always check Skyscanner for their prices first, however, do you book with 3rd parties? I hear people running into problems and scams, so I am generally hesitant. However, Skyscanner does list direct booking which is great for me.

I love using Skyscanner to do this. Another way is to search on Google Flights. You can look up specific regions, or continents to really help narrow down your search!

Such an awesome, informative post!! I actually never thought about flying into Europe and then choosing a different departure city – that’s so smart. I have an upcoming Europe trip later this year, so definitely going to try that technique out when booking my flights!

I love skyscanner, but as you say flexibility is key! It’s hard if you have a job where your holiday is fixed a year in advance :/
