TRAVEL TIP EDITION – @THISGIRLGIGGLES
Have you wondered how travel bloggers get to travel the world so frequently?
And how I’ve found round-trip flights from Atlanta to Dublin for less than $200 USD?
Many full-time travel bloggers make a living out of their blogs, but most of us are not millionaires. Believe it or not, many bloggers are on a strict budget. When budgeting, you have to consider flights, accommodation, food, tours, car hires, bag fees, travel insurance, and many other items.
How do I travel on a budget? I have to be flexible. I choose my destinations depending on the season and cost of the flights. Also, I usually travel on a shoulder season to keep the cost down. For flights, I only use Skyscanner to see which months and destinations are the cheapest that are departing from my home airport.
Another tip: Buy a cheap 1-way ticket to Paris (for an example) then find another cheap 1-way ticket way home from another European city with a high-traffic airport, such as London or Milan- as most flights are under $20 within European countries. And set up a price alert on your iPhone / Andriod for the countries you want to visit on Skyscanner (see below).
Follow these steps:
1/ Go to Skyscanner OR DOWNLOAD Skyscanner App on your iPhone or Android
2/ Enter your airport and choose ‘FLEXIBLE’ on destinations:
3/ Choose ‘WHOLE MONTH’ and ‘CHEAPEST MONTH’:
4/ Now, it will show you which countries are the cheapest.
Click on the arrow to view the cities:
5/ Let’s say I want to go to the US Virgin Islands because it starts from only $260 (round-trip):
6/ See which dates to depart and arrive are the cheapest:
In this case, it’s August 16th – 22nd for only $259!
There you go! It’s time to pack your bags. 🙂
Have you used SkyScanner before?
